How many literary awards are given a year?
Q. I have a research paper, and this would be one of my points to it. I need to know how many literary awards are given to books in this day and age. And maybe if you know how many awards were given to books/poems/etc in different, past time periods. This is a tricky one, so if you even have the slightest idea, I will be eternally grateful! Thank you.

A. This will be a matter of when you want to stop. There are so many now, often given for specific genres of literature, that you could end up with a very long list. Here are a few major ones with the first year they were awarded: Caldecott (for children's picture books): 1938 Newbery (for young adult literature): 1922 Nobel Prize for Literature: 1901 Pulitzer Prize (journalism): 1917 Edgar Award (mystery; also for screenplays and children's books): 1946 Orbis Pictus (children's nonfiction): 1990 National Book Award (fiction, non-fiction, poetry, children's): 1950 These are all American awards except for the Nobel Prize, I believe. Also, try this link. I just found this; it contains most of these and a few others. Book awards from… [cont.]

A. How about-- Follow their dreams award- Someone who is doing what they "said " they wanted to do after graduation- like become a singer, screen play writer.. president of company, ect. etc..--- who is doing what they set out to do... and give awards to all who have accomplished that.. (exclude the stay at home mom thing, I mean academically success...) Or most accomplished award... Put on a talent show... Who remembers the most names... Most accomplished of the least likely to succeed... Who has NOT changed the most... Most kids award... Best dressed award... NOW most handsome...Beautiful... (You know that everyone is working toward looking the best for their reunion.. reward the best looking NOW...) And don'[t automatically vote for… [cont.]

What awards can i give to my biology students on awards day?
Q. I am giving out awards to my 9th grade Biology students next week at a school wide awards presentation. I am trying to think of some different awards. I am already giving out "Most Improved" and "Outstanding Academic Achievement". I was also thinking "Most Enthusiastic". Can you think of some other awards I could give students that are not just highest grades type thing. I don't want anything silly. I don't want anything elementary school like. It's a serious awards thing with parents and everything there. Thanks for your help!

Who watched the Teen Choice awards and was shocked by the profanities used?
Q. As a parent I was shocked by the amount of profanites used on the Teen Choice Awards last night! Granted that they bleeped them out for TV, but I saw little girls in the audience who couldn't be any older than 5 or 6! Avril Lavigne said motherf*ckin for crying out loud! We're so worried about our kids looking up to Britney, Paris and Lindsey, but they seem to not be the only ones we have to look out for! Not only that, Miley Cyrus was certainly wearing a low cut dress! She got up for an award and had to "hold herself in her dress" before she popped out! Not to mention the various other teen rolemodel celebrites that were scantily clad as well. I just think it's sad that young girls are growing up thinking that's what they have to look… [cont.]

What are some good end of the year awards to give out to my rugby team players?
Q. I have about 17 girls on my team and I need to think of some good humored awards for them. So far I have the usual MVP & Most improved for serious ones.
Asked by JJ - Fri May 1 12:24:29 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. The accident prone one, biggest bruiser, the speedy one, the one the other team's afraid of, the talker on the pitch, the most aggressive, the energizer bunny, the one that's overly friendly with everybody (even the other team), the one that curses, the most encouraging player, etc. It really depends on their personality. Those are a few random ones I just thought up! Hope it helps!

How many ways can 5 awards be distributed among 30 students?
Q. There is no limit (other than 5) to the number of awards one student can earn. The answer I've been given is 30^5=24.3M, but I thought that would be the answer if there *was* a per-student award limit. If there is a limit, the answer is apparently around 11M. Any explanations here are appreciated. Thanks!
Asked by topher8128 - Tue Jul 22 14:11:11 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. If the awards are all distinct: each award independently has 30 students it can be given to, so the answer is as simple as 30 * 30 * 30 * 30 * 30 = 30^5 = 243000, as you say. If the awards cannot be distinguished (they are five student of the month awards or something) then we'd need to divide by 5! to account for overcounting, so the answer would be 30^5/5! = 202500

A. How comfortable are you are at using MS Powerpoint? Here's an idea. Go to Microsoft Design Gallery Live and download one of their Power Point Templates. You can find several award certificate templates. Also you can find on their clip art board positive images of African Americans and other nationalities. Several of the templates you could paste the clip art in the picture and create a unique certificate that reflects the student body Good luck!

What do I need to do or know in preparation for a business awards night?
Q. I'm attending a Property Awards night in two days and I know it will be important to me to make contacts and probably learn a few things about the industry.I would love to go into real estate in my country. Just looking for help as to what questions to ask? What to wear? How to effectively network in a business gathering like this? Basically, how to make the most of it.
