Modern customs of the holiday include gift-giving, Church celebrations, and the display of various decorations—including the Christmas tree, lights, mistletoe, nativity scenes, and holly. Santa Claus (also referred to as Father Christmas, although the two figures have different origins) is a popular mythological figure often associated with bringing gifts at Christmas for children. Santa is generally believed to be the result of a syncretization between Saint Nicholas and elements from pagan Nordic and Christian mythology, and his modern appearance is believed to have originated in 19th century media.

Christmas is celebrated throughout the Christian population, but is also celebrated by many non-Christians as a secular, cultural festival. Because gift-giving and several other aspects of the holiday involve heightened economic activity among both Christians and non-Christians, Christmas has become a major event for many retailers.

Will Christmas cookies I make this weekend be fresh for Christmas?
Q. I am planning on making a bunch of Christmas cookies, rice crispy treats and brownies for gift boxes as presents and for Christmas dinner. If I make them over the weekend will they keep fresh til Christmas? xoxooxoxoxo Thanks! *** Sure you can all have some!
Asked by EAST COAST STUNNER - Thu Dec 18 15:30:07 2008 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Most of them will remain fresh. The brownie and any other cookie with butter will keep best in the refrigerator for a few days. However, your Rice Krispie Treats should be made the day before, they will get dry and hard no matter what you do. What I like to do is double the recipe for rice krispie bars and press them in the bottom of a 9X13 cake pan with a glass that has non-stick spray on the bottom of it. Let them sit at least an hour. Take a large cutting board and "WHAK!" flip it over and you'll get one big Rice Krispie Bar that can be cut into large squares easily with a large knife and then cut them again into triangles and wrap in Christmas Saran Wrap for a great effect.

How to make people in the Christmas spirit or make Christmas still special?
Q. Ok, I'm super ready for Christmas but my family isn't. Usually we already have the tree up by now but we bought a house for my brother that has to be re-done.Needless to say they are really busy with the house and are not at all ready for Christmas. How can I still make Christmas special for me (I'm only 14 so I can't do much) or get my family in the Christmas Spirit?

A. the easiest thing is to play christmas music around the house. keep it going all day. it also helps to decorate the house a little bit. hang up some ornaments, garland, bows, strings of lights, or if you can't find any of that, make red green and white paper chains and decorations and hang them up around the house. i found it also helps to play videos/dvds of the classic christmas specials or christmas movies, like rudolph, frosty, the santa clause, elf, etc. just play them on the tv for no one in general. when people are in the room, they'll stop and watch, and be like "i remember that show!" you can also start wearing an elf or santa hat or reindeer ears around the house (if you have them) hope this helps! good luck merry… [cont.]

Where to buy clear case for Christmas tree to keep the cats out?
Q. I have a small Christmas tree (about 3 feet tall) and my cats try to destroy it. Does anyone know where I could buy some sort of clear case (maybe plastic or glass) to put around it to keep those little devils out of it? I can't imagine having Christmas without a Christmas tree and those sprays at the pet store do not work. Please let me know what you think.

A. I would check out a place that sells dolls. They sell clear cases for collector dolls to keep dust off.
