Design is the planning that lay the basis for the making of every object or system. It can be used both as a noun and as a verb and, in a broader way, it means applied arts and engineering (See design disciplines below). As a verb, "to design" refers to the process of originating and developing a plan for a product, structure, system, or component with intention. As a noun, "a design" is used for either the final (solution) plan (e.g. proposal, drawing, model, description) or the result of implementing that plan in the form of the final product of a design process. This classification aside, in its broadest sense no other limitations exist and the final product can be anything from socks and jewellery to graphical user interfaces and charts. Even virtual concepts such as corporate identity and cultural traditions such as celebration of certain holidays are sometimes designed. More recently, processes (in general) have also been treated as products of design, giving new meaning to the term "process design". The person designing is called a designer, which is also a term used for people who work professionally in one of the various design areas, usually also specifying which area is being dealt with (such as a fashion designer, concept designer or web designer). Designing often requires a designer to consider the aesthetic, functional, and many other aspects of an object or a process, which usually requires considerable research, thought, modeling, interactive adjustment, and re-design. Being defined so broadly, there is no universal language or unifying institution for designers of all disciplines. This allows for many differing philosophies and approaches toward the subject. However, serious study of design demands increased focus on the design process. From Wikipedia under the
GNU Free Documentation License How does the design of a TV tower antenna help it to get a better signal? Q. What is it about the design of an antenna that helps it to function more efficiently? How exactly does it pull the signals in? Would it hurt, help, or not really affect the reception, if I attatched a metal object to it? Would it give it more surface area for signals to be absorbed through or interfere with the origional design? Asked by BulletBite_45 - Mon Dec 4 14:00:46 2006 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. The number and size of the elements (rods) are determined by the frequency you want to receive. To receive multiple frequencies, the rods will be of different lengths. The should be horizontal because TV signals are horizontally polarized. The design is important and any added metal, etc., would probably do more harm than good as it would interfere with the design. I put in the link below to give you pictures of the antennas. Each design has its own advantages and disadvantages, depending on what you need. Answered by wires - Mon Dec 4 15:01:28 2006 Ecological design - Is it the same as design for sustainability? Q. Has anyone noticed that 'design (and policy/planning/ etc) for sustainability' uses the old destructive paradigms of growth economics, toxic materials, and single function products, whereas 'ecological design' use processes of design and problem solving that really push green practice to a new standard ? Asked by Kulin Kid - Mon Jul 9 15:53:29 2007 - - 3 Answers - 1 Comments A. not the same at all... designing for sustainability sounds like it's designed to sustain growth. that's not desirable in a world of finite resources. small wonder that it stresses monocultures, and limits flexibility and imagination. but it does provide for convenience and reliance. existing products are refined with a nod toward nature, but they still exist and still consume! designing ecologically, for instance using principles of permaculture, allows for a greater use of problem solving and employs objects and landscapes that serve multiple functions. this increases diversity and ability to change. it also employs knowledge and experience from varied disciplines, giving MANY people a share in the ownership of said design. … [cont.] Answered by patzky99 - Mon Jul 9 18:05:25 2007 How to design web report with graphical interface of reporting tool?
Q. I need to design graphical interface for reporting tool.If I use popular SSH structure (strust + spring + hibernate), the workload will be huge. Moreover, if I want to make it universal, it will be more difficult. Is there any simple solution to achieve it? Asked by qiang l - Mon Jun 8 05:19:34 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. Hi! In this condition, I believe that programmers will miss those days in which client side programming was popular. For users' data input, programmers can make a web input report with graphical interface easily with tools like Powerbuilder (PB). Now, you can use RAQ Report.RAQ Report is a professional web-based Java reporting software, it has a powerful programming class libraries without code. As a result, you can solve common problems in web programming easily. Such as drop-down box, automatic computation, sequential number generation, validity check, etc. Moreover, common functions have been encapsulated in RAQ Report, and you can use them without writing programs. Such as export Excel/Wordfile, printing, page break, image upload, etc. [cont.] Answered by Zinker F - Wed Jun 10 09:57:50 2009 From Yahoo Answer Search: "Design" Quotes about Design Sourced
