Manufacturing is the use of machines, tools and labor to make things for use or sale. The term may refer to a range of human activity, from handicraft to high tech, but is most commonly applied to industrial production, in which raw materials are transformed into finished goods on a large scale. Such finished goods may be used for manufacturing other, more complex products, such as household appliances or automobiles, or sold to wholesalers, who in turn sell them to retailers, who then sell them to end users - the "consumers". Manufacturing takes turns under all types of economic systems. In a free market economy, manufacturing is usually directed toward the mass production of products for sale to consumers at a profit. In a collectivist economy, manufacturing is more frequently directed by the state to supply a centrally planned economy. In free market economies, manufacturing occurs under some degree of government regulation. Modern manufacturing includes all intermediate processes required for the production and integration of a product's components. Some industries, such as semiconductor and steel manufacturers use the term fabrication instead. The manufacturing sector is closely connected with engineering and industrial design. Examples of major manufacturers in the United States include General Motors Corporation, Ford Motor Company, Chrysler, Boeing, Gates Rubber Company and Pfizer. Examples in Europe include Airbus, Daimler, BMW, Fiat, and Michelin Tyre. From Wikipedia under the

Does it make sense to you that the government is concerned about global warming when closing down American Manufacturing will send it to India, China, and Mexico? They don't have emissions standards. Could it be just another power grab and tax? Why would you worry about manufacturers in the US polluting the world when we have emission standards, only to move manufacturing to countries that have no pollution standards? Answered by Chris K - Wed Jun 24 12:27:55 2009 How do I estimate the value ($) of manufacturing and variable costs for the estimated sales revenue?
Q. I don't know exactly what information I need to calculate this, but the price is $75 per unit. The manufacturing and other variable costs amount to 35 percent of the sale price of each unit. Fixed costs in each new market are $85,000 per year. I calculated the sales revenue to be $42,896,625. How do I go about figuring this out? I also need to know how to estimate the value of fixed cost, total costs, value of profit, and profit as a percentage of sales revenue. Please Help! Asked by trash985 - Fri Mar 23 22:36:33 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. .35x + 85000 = y, is your cost line, where y is breakeven in dollars y/75 is the break even in units. The revenue line is 75x=y. Profit is the area between the revenue line and the cost line. Answered by Scott K - Sat Mar 24 01:07:36 2007 From Yahoo Answer Search: "Manufacturing" See also:
