What equipment is needed to pull a vacuum on a R-410a split air conditioner system?
Q. I took a class a while back on a/c to be certified to handle refrigerant, but cant remember the names of the tools i need. I would like to know specific names of the fittings, hoses, and vacuum pump to connect to a 2ton mini split air conditioning system. The one i speak of is pre-charged with R410a refrigerant, and has a bike valve type fitting, which i believe is where i connect the vacuum pump to pull a vacuum. Im looking for the cheapest most basic setup to get me going... i probably dont even need to look at a gauge, but a single vacuum gauge would be a help... What do i need??? wow, can you please read what i wrote. i am certified, it was not much of a challenge at all. i can handle refrigerant and buy sell what i need. how… [cont.]

A. Sorry, but if you are not certified to do this kind of work you could not only damage your system, but release refrigerant into the atmosphere, which as you know is illegal. Best leave this to a professional. Just so you know, you will need at least two gages.

my trans sounds and drives as if it were stuck in low gear. isa 89devilleFWD and i dont want to do an overhaul
Q. it's been this way over a year. the problem came after i put a 90 deville radiator in. all the hoses and lines lined up. the only adjustment i had to make was the end fittings. everything worked fine. now i have a new 89 radiator and a trans problem. is it the trans control module, trans control solenoid, trans temp sensor, or trans modulator valve. and whats the simplest all the way to the most aggrevating. i dont have the money or tools and equiptment to raise the engine up out to remove the trans. please help a 26 yr old broke father of 4.

A. i do this for a living,,and it would have to be the shift solenoid for the transmission,or the tcc switch in the transmission that make it lock up..it don't have a modulator valve on it,,they stopped using those years ago,,everything today is controlled by computer or throttle cables ,so it would have to be one of the two,,good luck hope this help,s.

Why does my German anti-siphon valve shoot water when I attach an American hose?
Q. This is maddening! I am stationed in Germay, and am just trying to water my lawn. The German stores have only plastic hose couplings that are the threaded-to-quick-disconn ect variety (as are the sprinkler attachments and so on). The hoses are quite flimsy, and the water pressure will cause the fittings to come apart if I close the nozzle at the hose end when I am washing the car or something like that...so, I bought an American hose on base with standard brass threaded ends and a sprinkler for my lawn When I attach the hose and turn on the water, the anti-siphon valve (small hole in the bottom of the spigot) shoots out water. This happens when the other end of the hose has nothing attached, so I would be surprised if it were a… [cont.]
