A heat exchanger is a device built for efficient heat transfer from one medium to another. The media may be separated by a solid wall, so that they never mix, or they may be in direct contact. They are widely used in space heating, refrigeration, air conditioning, power plants, chemical plants, petrochemical plants, petroleum refineries, and natural gas processing. One common example of a heat exchanger is the radiator in a car, in which the heat source, being a hot engine-cooling fluid, water, transfers heat to air flowing through the radiator (i.e. the heat transfer medium). Q. can any qualified hvac out there show me a computation on how the returning air is affected by moving the A-coil on the RA . My hvac guy is arguing that I dont need any extra return opening above the area where the A-coil was moved to. Doesn't the presence of the A-coil in the RA cause an obstruction to the air flow inside the RA. Asked by dfixer - Sun Jun 29 11:37:48 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. If the ductwork was set up properly to begin with, as long as the coil can be used for either "push through" or "draw through" operation then it may be ok (if the rated static pressure values of the coil are close). Duct work is designed by an external static pressure (ESP) calculation. All the fittings, turns, sizes, etc are calculated in equivalent feet measurements. The ductwork is sized according to this calculation. Have your technician show you his calculations to prove it will be ok. One other thing to remember is that the condensate drain will need a p-trap installed to allow proper drainage if the coil is in the return air stream. Answered by airconguru - Sun Jun 29 12:07:57 2008 How can I convert my I/O boat from raw water cooling to a heat exchanger so I can use it in salt water? Q. It's a Marthon 27' cabin cruiser with a Chevy/OMC 350 stern drive. I would like to convert it and was wondering what the cheapest and best way to do this is. I want to take it in salt water for extended periods and I don't want to ruin the motor. I've been researching heat exchangers but it's kind of confusing. Any advise appreciated, thanks. Asked by Jay - Mon Jan 15 12:17:51 2007 - - 2 Answers - 1 Comments A. Well you could go to the OMC dealer and check into buying all the parts needed to convert it over. Or you could check online for a conversion kit. Maybe Barr or Osco would have them. But I have to tell you many of the I/Os I see are not fresh water or heat exchanger cooled. The system will last about ten years running in salt water before having to change out exhaust elbows or manifolds. And if you flush out the system with fresh water after each use (you can buy a kit if your engine doesn't have a hook-up or if you trailer it you can get a flush out to hook on the lower unit) it will last much longer. Think about this before rushing to spend for a heat exchanger system. Answered by mark t - Mon Jan 15 12:48:16 2007 What is the average price range for Geothermal Heat Pump?
Q. I am looking to install a Geothermal Heat Pump. I am looking for a model that will heat liquid for Radiant Flooring, and then on the upper level I will use heat exchangers for a blower. Did your invoice breakdown the price of installation and excavation. I am curious to see what I will be saving by excavating myself. Also, please let me know what type you have? Field, Well, or Pond? Asked by Michael - Tue Jun 13 19:37:52 2006 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. 3 times the cost of normal hvac units I have one best choice I ever made.As far as radiant flooring I don't know.Geo thermal units are generally 400% efficient as opposed to98% for your best normal hvac units.
