A. Contact the Trustee of the Bankruptcy Court. All stores that declare bankruptcy have their fixtures sold this way. And watch the classified ads in several different categories..

Does anybody know if it is possible to buy replacement components for halogen light fixtures?
Q. I have 2 halogen light fixtures in my kitchen. They are the old type of fixtures, the ones for which you have to remove the glass heat shield in order to replace the actual light bulb. Last night when I was attempting to replace one of the bulbs, I accidentally dropped one of the glass plates and it broke. I don't want to buy a whole new fixture, just the protective glass, but I have been unable to find any replacement fixture components in the local shops. Does anyone know of a store/website that deals with this kind of thing? Thanks all!

A. I would check out Lowe's, they carry a wide variety.

Q. I want to paint gold knobs/lighting fixtures, to update them. I am afraid that if I use spray paint like I was told at a local store it will look worse than it does now. I am trying to save money, not spend it, by having to fix what I mess up.

Do Lighting Fixtures have to be Listed by UL?
Q. I know there are other listing companies, besides UL, but if I am installing a lighting fixture, does it meet NEC if the fixture has no markings, such as UL listed. Where is in the code book that the fixture has to be listed? It is a recessed fixture, in a store, not hazardous location or anything special.
Asked by DallasGuy - Tue Oct 10 17:23:51 2006 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Well, depending on which kind of light fitting and where to use them. If in High Harzard such as Fuel Depot, refinary and so on, then there is a need for UL and FM listed product, and of course EX'e' type of fitting. However, if commercial one especially for emergency light and Out signboard, you may need UL listed type and approved by local fire fighting authority. For home use, there is not necessary, but preferably with built in low power factor capacitor. If in your case is a store, then it is depending on how big and what is the function of a store. Normally M&E consultant can specify on behalf. But if is just a normal store then need not go for UL. if a Drug store or a standard warehouse store, then you need to.

Where can I get help to design the interior of a retail store?
Q. Im going to be opening a retail store in the next few months and am gathering info. I cant seem to find the proper type of company to design the interior for me. I need an overall look designed and possibly put together. What kind of company should I look for to do this work (Ive searched for merchandiser and interior designer, but neither seem to be a perfect fit for what I need) and more importantly, what kind of costs would I be looking at (aside from fixture costs) for the actual design service? Thanks.

A. you need 3 things, architech to design the theme, designer to figure the fixture placement and traffic flow and a general contractor to put it all together including the permits.use someone local that has worked with the local county inspectors etc. The average fee for a designer is $1.50 a foot. Good Luck.

What cleaner do you use for day to day cleaning of showers with brass trim and fixtures?
Q. I found that many of the cleaning products you find in the grocery store say do not use on brass or don't list brass as a surface they should be used on. For example the new scrubbing bubbles automatic shower cleaner says "do not use on brass". I'm looking for something to use on a daily basis to keep the showers clean.

I bought the wrong faucet fixture at Home Depot and opened the package. Can I return it for store credit?
Q. Or to exchange it for the correct type? Even if I opened the package? Thanks!
Asked by rastabudd - Fri Jun 27 21:35:27 2008 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments
A. If you bought it within the past 90 days you can return it for full credit, opened or not, and receive a refund of cash or credit to your credit card. If you lost the receipt you will get store credit as long as the faucet looks new, opened or not. If you paid with store credit or gift card, you will get store credit. Even without a receipt IF you paid with a credit card, debit card or check they can look up the transaction and grant you a refund the same as if you had a receipt.

How would you describe the Store Front, Store layout, store interior, and interior displays of foot locker?
Q. Store front- What does the exterior look like? Think of signs, the marquee, Window displays, entrances. Store layout- How does the store promote sales and facilitate customer service? Store interior- How is the store decorated? think about the lighting, paint, fixture it uses. Interior displays- What does this store use to allow customers access merchandise? remember, the store is foot locker

A. Black and white sign in lower case letters with a referee blowing a whistle in the middle, red accents, on a vertical wood plank board background. There were no windows as this was a mall store. The shoes are on fixtures to the front of the store and on shelves on the wall. The seating is perpendicular to the back wall where the cash stand is located under what is to resemble a football scoreboard. Clothing hangs off of wall arms. Hats are in cubbie holes. All merchandise in easily accessible, however most shoes are in the back of the store and the sales persons have to bring them out to customers. I hope this helps. Good Luck.

How should I store Fresh Fruit?
Q. I am intending to leave fresh fruit outside the refrigerator, on the open cabinet. I am using "a modified version" of a fruit basket to store these fruits. I am using the dome-shaped glass form from a broken light fixture. - This dome is smoothe glass with a single small hole (1 inch diameter) at the center where it was fastened to this fixture. I am seeking any "modifed versions of bottom "nesting" to set my fruit into this fixture so that it will give the fruit enough air to stay fresh. Could I rely on a few large gravel rocks in the bottom of this glass fixture to provide enough air for this purpose or should I build something else to fit the bottom if it is necessary? (I am hoping to store fresh fruit as long as I potentially can; [cont.]

Light fixtures- dry area vs damp approved?
Q. I'm remodeling my bathroom, and I've found that some light sconces are approved for damp areas while others are approved for dry areas only. Is the only difference between these fixtures that one has a ground wire while the other hasn't? If I can learn to identify these, it'll be much easier for me to buy the right one without opening boxes in the stores and digging through it trying to read the label on the back of the fixture, then trying to make everything fit in the box again. Cool! Thanks Josh!

A. That shouldnt be the only difference..With the ones approved for a damp area should have a gasket..But if your just putting them in your bathroom you dont NEED the damp area ones..Youll just need to make sure your plugs are GFI's..
