Hamburger Press / Patty Molding Machine The PM-1 manual hamburger patty molding machine forms and ejects a wax-sheeted patty in one operation. The body of the PM-1 is made of polished, die-cast aluminum. The PM-1 holds up to 100 sheets of wax paper, and the mold and knock-out discs are interchangeable. The PM-1 is capable of molding 4-5 patties per pound of meat, and the machine measures 12 1/4 inch x 7 3/4 inch x 5 1/2 inch. Two molds are included with the PM-1 patty machine. I need tips for making molds to be used for casting pewter in a centifrugal casting machine?
Q. I know the basics and all we always use black mold rubber I was wondering advantages of other colors and tricks when cutting molds and everything like that, anything would be appreciated, thanks!!

A. I have used both polystyrene and wax mock-ups cast in casting sand.The mock-ups in wax can be melted out,while the polystyrene vapourises on contact with the hot metal,we used both aluminium and brass and copper.(there are health and safety concerns with this process nowadays!) Plaster moulds can be used but must be very dry.Venting holes can be used with undercut moulds.Our centrifuge was well guarded and safety was most important.
