How often do contracts on houses fall through?
Q. My family is looking for a house, we found the perfect one and me and my mom are absolutely in love with it. It suits us perfectly. Neither of my parents know what to look for to make extra sure that the house is in good shape before we commit so my aunt and uncle are coming down this weekend to look at it. They are our real estate agents. The house went under contract TODAY. How often do contracts fall through? Is there anything we can do? We LOVE this house.

A. Have your agent talk to the list agent and find out about submitting a backup offer (that way if the current contract falls through you can purchase the house). Otherwise all you can do is sit back and wait, houses do fall out of contract a fair amount of time (I'd estimate about 20-30% of the time). Good luck.
