It is done on roads and paths, across open country or even over snow and ice (icebiking). This sport can be performed with unicycles (unicycling), tricycles (tricycling), quadricycles (quadricycling), and other similar wheeled human-powered vehicles (HPVs) Bicycles, the most common form of cycle, were introduced in the 19th century and now number about one billion worldwide. They are the principal means of transportation in many regions. Bicycling is a highly efficient mode of transportation [2] and optimal for short to moderate distances. Compared to motor vehicles, bicycles have numerous benefits including using renewable energy, generating no air pollution, reducing traffic congestion, minimizing noise pollution (nearly silent operation), providing exercise, easier and less costly parking, much lower likelihood of causing a fatality, high maneuverability, ability to travel on roads or special paths, and lower user cost as well as societal costs (negligible damage to roads, and less pavement required).[3] Criticisms and downsides to cycling commonly include: reduced protection in crashes (including those with motor vehicles), longer travel time (except in densely populated areas), no inherent protection from poor weather, inability to transport passengers, the physical demands of operation, and perspiration in hot weather or on long climbs. Decide what kind of racing you want to do, I chose road. Brand names aren't much helps since its not the brand you are buying so just go with a bike that is in your price range at a local bike store, dont buy those cheap deparment store bikes. Then find a club, I started off alone and it was really boring. I didn't know much about road biking at the time so when I found a nearby cycling club it helped me a lot. Try finding one that isn't too serious first since your beginning. Sometimes those really competitive adults start dropping you. I found a nice group that holds back and lets the beginners get a head start. Even with the head start they pass us up in no time xD. If you do a partial water change then the bacteria will remain but if you remove all the water you risk removing all of the bacteria. The bacteria, as you already may know, comes in two parts. The first, which will oxidize ammonia into nitrite, is called nitrosomonas and the second, which will oxidize nitrite into nitrate, is called nitrobacter. The only way to get rid of nitrate is changing 25% to 50% of the water. Also, a good thing to know is that these bacteria do not do well if the ph levels get too high. 7.6 ph is the best level for fresh water and 8.3 ph for marine/salt water. If you want to start a tank and don't have any fish yet then you should do a fishless cycle.
