What is needed when transmission fluid is getting old?
Q. I just had my oil changed not too long ago and the mechanic pointed out my transmission fluid's color, saying that it might need changing. How much would it cost for me to do it myself and how difficult would it be? Could a beginner/dumbass be able to handle it?

A. Ok, pretty easy for a do-it-yourselfer. First you need to get the parts to do the job. filter, fluid and gasket. Let me know what vehicle you have and I can look up the parts and qty. and tell you what it would run. After you get the parts, its pretty straight forward. jack up the car and secure it. remove the tranny pan bolts. drain fluid. replace filter. replace pan and gasket. add fluid. your done. :-) Dont worry about the torque convertor, thats a pretty good sized job for a beginner. How many miles on the trans.? hope this helps. If you need any parts or have any other questions, feel free to contact me directly at wgarrison@logixautoparts. com or give me a call 866-712-1984. We can also supply you with all the parts you… [cont.]

Some fluid has risen to the top of my big jug of salsa. Is it probably safe to use?
Q. My family uses from these slowly, but it seems to never have happened before. Not so much in the body but at the handle has risen like a half inch of yellow fluid. It smells OK. Should it be safe to use after shaking? Thanks!
Asked by Daghead - Thu Sep 3 00:29:42 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. might be actually a good thing, if the use by date is still ok and the salsa was stored as it is supposed to be. the company was using not to much stabilizer to keep the sauce an uniform gunk of liquid. that's why solids settle at the bottom an liquid comes to the top.

How and where, do you add transmission fluid to a 2001 Toyota Tacoma?
Q. I found a dipstick (not the engine oil stick)with a T-handle, but it's not labeled and it's on the passenger side - it says on the end of this stick "Dexron II. Is this the power steering fluid stick or the trans stick? There is no reference in the owner's manual to trand fluid. Is that possible? You can't add trans fluid to a Toyota???
Asked by stephen g - Sat Jun 9 20:25:47 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. If its a long stick it's transmission fluid. You add through that hole with a funnel. Careful-don't overfill.

I have a 150cc Motorcycle, the front brake doesn't work, I replaced the brake fluid and nothing changed?
Q. The spot by the brake handle that the fluid goes in was completly empty, i put new fluid in and I made sure it was the right kind, what could be wrong?
Asked by double_a1991 - Sat Apr 25 13:56:56 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You need to bleed the brake lines. Also, depending on how old it is, the brake caliper pistons may be rusted up and not operating. You don't have to have a brake bleeder gizmo. You can do it without one if you know what you're doing.

Is it safe to use cleaning fluid to clean darkened strap and dry clean the inside of Louis Vuitton vintage bag
Q. My friend gave me her old Louis Vuitton bag but the handle straps had darkened and the inside lining had become grimy because of long use. I plan to use the usual cleaning gel or fluid to clean the straps and send it to the dry cleaner to clean the inside fabric lining. Can I do those without ruining the original bag?
Asked by Melita S - Fri May 16 12:27:43 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The handles are natural cowhide leather, NO WAY should you use any fluid on them! You can NOT get the natual patina out of leather. You can buy a leather cleaner and try to just get the dirt off. You also can't dry clean the interior because it doesn't come out. Just take a damp cloth and wipe it out. You can bring the handbag to a Louis Vuitton store to have the handles replaced if they really bother you. It will run you around $150.00 depending on which style handles they are. DO NOT have anything replaced by anyone other than LV or you will completely ruin the value of the purse.

A. It is definitely worth while if you can somehow get your foot into the door. Finding someone who is willing to hire you as a functional ERP consultant will be difficult if you don't have any experience in ERP implementation. If you can happen to work for a company who is considering implementing an ERP solution, you will be a lucky person. Best wishes.

Checking brake fluid in a 2005 Harley Davidson Sportster??
Q. I have a Harley Davidson 2005 Sportster and am a little unsure about changing and checking the brake fluid. Do they have an overflow tank?? The bottom right hand side tank is empty and the one near the handle bars is full.
Asked by CJ - Sun Jun 15 14:28:46 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. There is no overflow tank. The one on the bottom right hand side is for the rear disc brake, and the one on the front is for the front disc brake. You should check the level regularly, and add more if the level is low. Be sure and buy the correct brake fluid, they come in different ratings that cannot be mixed. 05 Sporty uses DOT 5, so do not buy DOT 4 or DOT 3 brake fluid. Mixing 3 or 4 with 5 is dangerous and will not work properly. If you want to change the brake fluid, you'll have to get 2 pair of banjo bolt washers for the front and rear discs or the brake lines will leak after you drain the lines. I'd flush out the calipers with new fluid before reinstalling them. Unless the brake fluid is dark or milky, it probably doesn't… [cont.]

How do you safely handle food, waste and bodily fluids in nursery (uk)?
Q. How do you safely handle food, waste and bodily fluids in nursery (uk) and why is it important?
Asked by ??77 - Sat May 17 03:03:22 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I bought Latex Free disposable gloves in bulk and I wash my hands thoroughly after each changing... I also only change on the changing table to limit cross contamination around the room. Urine is steril when it comes out and snot and spit are pretty safe.. so don't worry about these but tie the poopy diapers in a small bag and dispose of them in a garbage can that you take out each day to limit smells... I would say avoid special diaper containers as they stink to high heaven and heat up inside causing stinky condensation everywhere, plus they are expensive and often require expensive refill bags... Good Luck.. Nicci

Fluid around his lungs??? How bad and serious?
Q. I have a 10 yr old male boxer and last thursday (on Thanksgiving Day) I had to take him to an emergency vet because he started gaggin and coughing A LOT. They did an xray on him and saw that he had fluid built around his lung (not inside). So they did a chest tap and started draining out the fluid...shockingly, they drained about 2 liter of water. (llike a 2L soda bottle worth). They didn't really tell me how bad or serious this is...but I did my own research and I think this is pretty bad. They didnt give me any med for him since they werent sure exactly what he had. They told me to take him to a cardiologist for dogs. Ever since that day, Ive been crying everyday. Just staring at him hurts me...I feel like he doesnt have much to… [cont.]

A. You did research and you think it's pretty bad. I don't know how to put this, but what you feel is usually right. I know all about the pain and about the crying, too well. Keep him comfortable, and tell him you love him. Be there for him when it is his time. Letting go is painful, very painful. No one is ever ready for it. I lost my best buddy, almost two years ago. He was only 8. It hurt, real bad. I still have him in my heart I always will. It's not easy, but you will find a way to handle to it. My heart and a big hug to you.

A. apparently she wanted to hear your every word, or felt she had to stay until you finished your meeting. either way i am sure she is embarrassed enough. call the janitor to come and remove the chair from your office and have it cleaned. then if it still bothers you, let some one else in the office use it and get yourself a different one.

Asked by dj-deano-t - Sun Jul 12 08:46:07 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The cap may have the type of fluid to be used actually on it. If nothing found use DOT 4 type fluid which is also one used in cars. Clean the cap fully before removing it to prevent dirt getting in and use DOT4 from a sealed container only to ensure that no water has got into it. brake fluid will soak water up out of the air if not sealed up. brake fluid is corrosive so do not let it get on anything else, specially paintwork and your skin. top up to max mark only and put cap back on reservoir before operating the lever

Is it possible to maintain a car by yourself without having to take it to a repair shop or dealership?
Q. I would like to do this so that I can save money and learn more about my car. I already know the basics such as checking and adding fluid, filter replacements, oil changes, tire rotations, etc.. I know that there are certain things that a repair shop or dealership is best left to handle, such as engine belts. But other than the very complicated stuff like engine belts and the electronic system, is it possible to learn how to maintain the car by myself and save myself a lot of money?
