A. I believe people who eat too much processed foods have a different smell. For instance, too many hot dogs makes you stinky.

Can eating TOO much Protein cause Body Odor?
Q. Hi I started to exercise January of and I ate chicken, whey protein and oat meal everyday for four months. I began to notice my friends and classmates saying that I smell bad around the month of April. I did everything possible to have a GREAT hygiene, and stopped eating protein all together. No garlic, curry ,onions, or dairy products anymore. But even today I have a funky smell to me (like sweat even about an hour after taking a shower). I have tried various deodrants, soaps, and body sprays, even went to two doctors (endocronologists) who were of no help. my questions: 1)So can eating excess protein (Everyday) might have cause some disease inside me? 2)Can colon cleanse help my body odor?(safefy) 3)Can eating vitamin B, magnesium… [cont.]

A. Toxins are stored in fat and if you were losing weight you may have been releasing toxins thru your sweat. I'd suggest increasing your water flushing thru pee instead of thru skin. Adding parsley & chlorophyll prob help. google "low carb" +odor Was it just April or ongoing?? If it was just April, I bet you were releasing toxins. I've been doing low carb for years and it's supposedly not great for the breath at first. Don't remember anyone mentioning body odor.

Too Much Protein = wasting protein through urine? mild odor?
Q. Im a weightlifter, 5 feet 11 inch 156 lb 13% body fat- done by amateurs from 24 hr, Fitness, but ya im "Lean Muscle" Im taking a protein shake during the middle of school (42g Protein). then I work out then I have a recovery shake after that (70g Protein) I have fast metabolism. once I started taking a protein shake during the day I noticed a mild odor from urine after peeing during school. I think my body isn't absorbing the protein because it doesn't need it because I haven't worked out yet. So am I wasting my money on these middle day shakes if it just goes right through me? After I take my recovery shake after a work out my urine is clear. meaning I have absorbed all of the nutrients in order to recover. Should i stop taking the P.Shake [cont.]

A. I'm guessing that you are also eating a lot of protein in your regular diet, right? The general recommendation for people who weight train is about 1 gram of protein per lb of bodyweight, though I have heard .8 to 1.8 grams per kg of bodyweight. Now, since you are 156 lbs and you are consuming 112 grams JUST from shakes, and that doesn't count your regular diet, I am imagine that you are taking in far too much protein. Too much protein taxes the kidneys a great deal -- and guess what, just like too many carbs, too much protein is stored as fat. I would say cut out the pre-workout protein shake and cut the post-workout protein shake in half (30 to 35 grams). I've heard, but haven't seen proof, that the body can only process a… [cont.]

Which will help reduce body odor, cardio or weight lifting?
Q. For cardio I only run on my treadmill and I also lift weights sometimes and drink protein shake after one workout. So which one will be more effective at reducing/preventing body odor?

A. Soap. Body odor is caused by bacteria growing on your skin. If you are hot and sweaty, that will give bacteria a perfect environment to thrive, and thus, stink.

Is Febreze harmful to people or pets?
Q. It works great to remove odors but is it harmful in any way? I know it uses a protein to eat the odor some way and not mask it with perfumes. Is it likely to have an affect on bare skin ? or lungs if inhaled?

A. There had been reports that Febreze was dangerous to pets. According to these three websites, these reports are false, and even the ASPCA has approved Febreze for safe use around cats and dogs. however, bird owners should still be cautious. A bird's respiratory system is much shallower than that of other animals or humans, and things that may not harm other animals or humans should still be used with caution around birds. "Despite widely circulating anecdotes claiming that Febreze has killed household pets, no evidence has been found to suggest that the substance is dangerous to animals.[3] Birds may be the exception, however, since they are highly sensitive to many airborne chemicals. Was reducing chicken stock, fell asleep, house filled with chicken smoke, odor lingers. Help?
Q. This is for the daughter of my employer. She can't seem to find anything that will work. She's been told the smoke from the "almost fire" deposited a layer of chicken protein all over everything and the smell will linger for quite some time. What's the best way for getting this sort of thing out?
Asked by uncleclover - Fri Oct 2 11:41:45 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Every surface affected by the smoke has to be washed. It's expensive to hire out and most insurance covers it, minus the deductible. She should check that out first. Otherwise, she gets to do this by herself and it isn't easy to clean carpets, curtains, upholstered furniture, and walls.

I do not overdue the supplements so its not any sort of protein break down. Its a natural odor and I myself am not repulsed by it or anything. A. It may be your hormones from the diet change and your body flushing out toxins, which happens when your metabolism is kicked into high gear. On the other hand I would suggest you see a doctor to eliminate any illness and they possibly have some suggestions based on tests they can run. Until then don't go over board with soaps and eating pills, try some natural options. My brother had an issue with body Oder even when he showered and used deodorant he had a rancid smell that wouldn't go away. I found that when he used lemon juice in his body wash it helped a lot, also with anti bacterial soaps and body powder to absorb the sweat and taking zinc with a glass of milk every day. Sweat is what the bacteria feeds on and causes the smell,… [cont.]

do table or human food play a role in dog's bad odor?
Q. just yesterday my puppy was diagnosed with UTI. the vet suggested i subject him to a "barf" diet. less than 1/4 cup of boiled ground beef 1/4 cup of vegetables for fiber and 1/2 rice (fed twice a day. and milk for his breakfast) ...is this a good diet and treat for his UTI? and another thing im afraid is if i give him table food or food human eat, he would develop bad odor. if not? what mainly causes this bad odor? im already contented with giving him dog food (Royal Canin Indoor Junior) but the vet said due to high protein content of his diet, he contracted UTI. help! thank you!

Do you know anyone with Fish Odor Syndrome? Smell fishy or like trash?
Q. It has something to do with how their body processes protein or certain enzymes. When it's very bad b/c of diet they can have a strong fish smell. If they watch their diet they can smell less fish like, but more like trash. Someone close to me has this. A. im a bodybuilder and protein is my main focus day in and day out as I consume about 5 protein shakes(whey) a day. No side effect, however if you take more then 2x your bodyweight in grams of protein it is harder for your kidneys to break it down. Other then that there are no scientifically proven negetive side effects. best of luck to you. may i recommend Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey.

So here: "Okay, I've been reading around and have found a few things saying that meat stays into your intestines for a lot longer than other foods because it is so hard to digest. I have become a vegetarian now for a little over 2 months. About the end of Jan. I started having gas, an upset stomach, cramping and diarrhea. I was told since I was eating for things with fiber in them, and a healthier diet my body was just getting rid of the meat in my system, and cleansing my body. I'm starting to wonder about it now though. I sometimes don't even feel like I'm about to have a bowel movement, and I do anyways. The movements are not that normal either. They are liquid-like, and have a… [cont.]

A. It sounds to me that you may want to go to a different doctor. You should probably have a colonoscopy and maybe an upper GI. A couple of years ago I had similar problems and was diagnosed with Gerd, which is just severe acid reflux. I take protonix and it helps alot. A natural route would be to go to a health food store and get some acidopholos pills, they restore digestive enzymes. If your bowel movements are that severe and you are not feeling any better, you seriously should see a doctor.

With all the recalls I thought I would share:?
Q. this is an actual research page I found when working for a home vet and she loved it so much that she put it on her page..read it with an open mind...and think...here is her page also if you are interested.. (Don't read if you have a weak stomach) What's Really for Dinner? The Truth About Commercial Pet Food, by Tina Perry Cow brains. Sheep guts. Chicken heads. Road kill. Rancid grain. These are a few of the so-called nutritionally balanced ingredients found in the commercial pet food served to companion animals every day. More than 95 percent of US companion animals derive their nutritional needs from a single source: processed pet food. When people think of pet food, many envision whole chickens, choice cuts of beef, fresh grains, and… [cont.]

A. Thanks for the research and letting others see it. Those who are new pet owners should know about it, if they don't already.

Q. The only way the system would think that they are helping me or getting rid of me is to put me in a mental institution, lock me up, put a sign, a label on me that says something like Bipolar , Boderline Personality , Dangerous , Crazy. The fact is that the system, other human beings who have not experienced the same thing, the same emotions can not possibly understand. If they did understand the emotions that are unbearable to the soul, they would be in the same situation as I am. I am sure about this and I still keep an open mind. If people understood me and how I felt, no drug, no psychiatrist, no psychologist could help them get out of the situation. When I lose the memory, I can live my life happily and live in the present. When… [cont.]

A. You are right. The system does not make a good parent so when someone is in its care and in need of care often times, and too many times, an institution becomes the cure all and it is not. Institutions offer managed care, not personal care. You are right in that once admitted there, you are labeled and it becomes more about the diagnosis/treatment than the person. Often times, the ppl who make decisions to put ppl there would also find themselves there in different circumstances. We all are only as strong as the worst event that has happened to us to date. We cannot possibly know how we would cope if we had different circumstances in our lives. It is important to remember though that workers and judges are doing the best they can (for the… [cont.]

I get a clear build up in my eyes all the time?
Q. I always get this clear protein substance built up in my eyes. It usually gathers towards the corners, to where I can just pull it out. It is clear and has no odor or anything that appears harmful. I asked my eye doctor about it and he said I might have allergies and it isn't something I really need to be worried about. It happens way worse when I wear makeup. There sometimes gets to be so much of it that it blurs my vision or is really itchy until I pull it out. It sometimes comes out in really long strings. Has anyone had this before, or know what it is? And if it is allergies, how can I treat it? They aren't really long strings, just like a strand, I guess. It's just like protein build up that gets on contact lenses, but it… [cont.]
