My silver earrings are getting very rusty?
Q. Now what can I use on them to get back the silver color, instead of wearing my earrings with rust and dirt on them.
Asked by SR85 - Wed Sep 12 21:50:19 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Ok so I have not tried this, but I saw a lady on t.v. put some tin foil in a bowl. Then she put baking soda and vinegar in it. Then she put the jewelry on top of the foil and let it sit for a while. When she took out the silver, it was all new. I saw it on the BBC's, How Clean Is Your House. Good Luck.

What should I do with my old rusty jewelry?
Q. I am cleaning right now and discovered my old earrings and necklaces that I onced loved... I would start wearing them again right now but they became all rusty :(. Is there a way to get rid of the rust? Or should I just throw them out? They weren't expensive so I wouldn't mind doing that, I just feel bad.

A. Hello, I would suggest you take them to a jewelry shop and have them clean there. It will be the best option in my opinion, and they will be professionally cleaned. You could try doing it yourself, I would however not recommend it.

How best to clean earrings?
Q. I love earrings, and I have tons of them. But after a while, the metal on some of them starts to look old and sort of rusty (I don't think it's rust, but that's the only way i know to describe it) . They are all fairly low-cost (from target, kohls, claire's, etc.), if that makes a difference. But my question is - how do I get rid of this rusty-stuff? And why is it happening?

i dropped an earring down da drain -_- how do i get it out? oh and by da way.... da pipes r rusty?
Q. i also need a household item that will make da rust go away and i cant call a plumber either lols =(

A. You need to remove the p-trap. It's the P-shaped pipe immediately under the sink. Easily removed with a wrench, or your hands if you're feeling strong. Have a bucket handy because there's a little water in there. Nothing will remove bad rust - it's the pipe breaking down. But surface rust can sometimes be removed with steel wool. Try an SOS or Brillo pad.

My earrings keep tarnishing / rusting over. What kind of jewelry won't do this?
Q. I think most of my earrings are sterling silver, and they keep getting all brown/black and rusty looking! I even splurged on some earrings coated with white gold, but the same thing happened to those earrings. Does anyone know the name of an earring material that will NOT do this? I have two cartilage hoops that I have never taken out, for about 2 years, and they are in perfectly fine condition - no rust, darkening, or anything! I don't know what material they are, though.

A. get either surgical steel... (that stuff will take a beating and most aren't allergic to the metal) gold... real silver. titanium... that stuff will work. sterling silver is a very cheap form of silver and will tarnish, turn black and become brittle with use. many times it will turn skin green and cause mild irritation.

Fake Earrings?
Q. I want small hoop earrings (1/2"-3/4") but can't afford real gold ones. Rusty stuff gets behind my ear piercing if I wear fake earrings. Is there any way to not get this infection/or whatever?

how good is the jewelry you get from Avon?
Q. When you get silver earring or ring, or pendant, or anything from Avon, does it stay good? does it get all rusty looking? or brown? or un-pretty or un-shiny? my boyfriend had gotten me a diamond ring which went missing, and I saw one almost just like it (for MUCH cheaper) in the Avon catalog. i want to get it but i dont want it get or ugly or turn my finger green. has anyone ordered jewelry from avon and been disappointed? thanks
Asked by wateverinfinity - Mon Jun 16 17:19:39 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. AVON jewelry or any sterling jewelry will stay shiny if you take care of it properly. If sterling jewelry stays in a jewelry box for too long it will tarnish. It is meant to be worn. Sterling jewelry can be washed with water and polished with a soft chemise cloth. Now it will eventually age. This is just a fact. As far as turning your finger green. That's an allergic reaction. It does me that way, but only if I wear it for long periods of time. I have to give my fingers a break. I hope this helps. jessicayouravonrep08@yaho o.com www.youravon.com/jcotton

Q. Alice The nurse wheels me in before the frosty window. There we are Alice dear. Now you can enjoy the view! Isn t that nice? I sigh inwardly. The woman only looks about thirty-five. She s just a girl. Far too young to be calling me dear . That s delightful! I grimace, answering in her own sugary tone. She smiles, obviously pleased that her idea had been a success, and wanders off to deal with some of the other old people in the home. As I stare at the pane of glass in front of me, I look but I don t see the view. Instead, I watch as a tear slips down my wrinkled reflection. I was old. Tired. And so alone. I sit back with a hollow sigh, and let my mind wander back, back to those days of my girlhood. To the people of my childhood … [cont.]
