What would be a good name for an organization that gives toys, games, etc to kids in hospitals ...?
Q. And do you think having a PenPal system would be a good idea (What the PenPal system is: Each month you can sponsor a child in the hospital and write to them and send extra money for presents and b-day/C-mas presents, etc) And would it be something that you would do? So...1) What do you think would be a good name for this kind of organization & 2) Would the PenPal system be something that you would do (and/or do you think it's a good idea)? Thank you!:)

ideas needed for toys/games for my pet rats?
Q. I have 2 male rats, Bruce and Max, who seem to be used to the usual toys I've made for them, so I'm looking for new ideas for some games or toys I can use in the cage or when playing with them. I've already tried sock tunnels, hammocks, box houses, ladders, bridges and having them wade into a shallow dish of water for frozen veggies on hot days.

A. I used to have rats and they loved fishing for frozen peas out of a shallow water dish. Do you put small river rocks in the dish? I used the kind you can get at Wal-Mart (in the fish department) and the rats would have to lift them up and move the rocks out of the way to get to the peas. They even took a few rocks up into their cage. Here are some other ideas: Mmake them popsicles (put some fruit juice into an ice cube tray) on a hot day -Take an empty toilet paper roll, put some treats inside, and fold the edges up so that the rats have to chew through it to get to the treats -www.thatpetplace.com sells lots of really neat toys and snacks at a pretty reasonable price. A. Inside games are fine but you need to take your dog for a walk daily no matter what the weather! Walking will help with basic obedience and will make the dog work both physically and mentally as he tries to focus on you and walking and making you happy. Once the dog is worn out on a good walk then any toy can be used as a game once home. Fetch is great and will get the dog to learn to retrieve and bring toys back to you. A little game of tug of war is OK as long as you win most of the time so he knows you are the boss. Even doing some basic obedience like sit, drop, stay in small doses will also wear him out as he is going to be focusing mental energy to get it right. Walking you dog is the most important thing you can do! If it is… [cont.]

Q. how to make homemade nuts and bolts chess set pieces and chess board. also, any other homemade toys and games to make.

A. You could try craftster.org, there is a whole section on toys and games that people have made and many of them have tutorials on how to make them yourself. If there is not a tutorial, many of them are easy to figure out for yourself. You may not be able to find exactly what you're looking for, but I guarantee you will find good ideas.

Would taking away your child's toys and video games early in their age affect them in the future?
Q. Just out of curiousity. I meant by taking it away or not buying it at all for them. Would they turn out differently in the future? Would your child turn out better or worse in the future because of this action.
Asked by Cycling Magician - Tue May 13 15:19:55 2008 - - 12 Answers - 0 Comments
A. I'm not sure what kind of toys you are talking about. Certain toys are very beneficial to kids. Play-doh, Legos, art supplies...all of these things enhance the creative ability of children. Bicycles, roller blades and balls give them good gross motor skills and burn calories. These are toys I would not take away at any age. But video games? Never bought them in the first place! My kids get a kick occasionally out of playing video games at a friend's house. They have GameBoys to entertain them on very long trips. Other than that, there are no video games in our lives, and we don't miss them.

I need some ideas for 'doggy 'games' or toys (not chew toys)?
Q. Our dog sometimes gets bored in the night and cries. I can't keep getting up in the wee hours of the night to hang out with her, so am looking for inventive games or toys she can play with by herself, until we get up. I also think it will be good for her development doing stuff other than chewing. Yes, she sleeps better if she's had heaps of exercise during the day, but not always.
Asked by Tracky - Tue Feb 19 21:48:28 2008 - - 9 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Part of it will just take time for her to get used to getting through the nights. Make sure she doesn't have to go potty though otherwise don't nurture the habit by going and seeing her (which it sounds like you are trying to stop too. I like putting peanut butter in a Kong toy and freezing it so it is harder to get the PB out of it. You can also fill it with kibble or treats so she has to work to get it out. Other than that, you can soak a rope toy in water and freeze it and it will help with any teething. You can also try turning on a radio on low for her to listen to. We used to do that when our dogs were puppies. Good luck and hang in there!

Q. It seems so ridiculous to me for an adult man to still collect toys and I don't think they are worth anything in the long run. It's not like an antique or something.
