How would you valuate this wholesale distribution business?
Q. We sell health and beauty products. Been in business about 3 years. Annual sales were $200k, 500k and 700k. We sell entirely online through four different sales channels. We sell to end-user 80% and wholesale 20%. We bought our own 2500 sq. foot warehouse 2 months ago. What is the best way to determine valuation on this business?

A. Using a multiplier of NET is the place to start. That is your baseline. Then anyone looking to buy you business they will be looking at stability. Three years is not bad, but five is better. Then they will be looking to see if your growth is sustainable. Is your building included? What is the cost to value. You have obviously done a good job getting this business going. You may be the biggest asset of the company. As such, if you want to cash out, the company would be worth a lot less. Again, as a previous responder said, there are many variables. There is no simple equation to value any company. Good luck and congratulations for building a successful company. It's not easy.

I need to buy a large amount of items from a wholesale distribution center.?
Q. I need to buy a large amount of items from a wholesale distribution center. I'm a nail technician and I need to buy everything from a gallon (cheap but heavy) of acetone to small rubber bottle tilters. One distribution center is near my house and I could drive there directly without paying shipping, and the other is far away and I would have to pay shipping. The problem is that the one by my house is significantly more expensive than the one that would have to ship to me. For instance 32 oz of acetone at the one far away is $3.95 and 32 oz of acetone from the one by my home is $4.95. I've had so much on my mind so my brain is mush right now. I'm just starting my business so I need to get the best price possible in order to make a profit.… [cont.]

A. You know what your trying to sell them... do you know what you competitors are trying to sell them ? Research that because they probably have and if your out in left field with your proposal or costs it will be a red flag, but if your close you get to play the game so you need to stand out a little bit above the rest. And be prepared for a statement like " the company we have already does that" why would we chnage?" what's involved with making the switch? how would you make it an easy transition. Its probably also good to know if your presenting your proposal to the entire company or just this perticular region?

NAVY decision on my rating?

I imagine I will get some pretty good training with troubleshooting electronics, and most FC's and ET's iv'e talked to love their job. My thing is that, I would like to eventually own my own warehouse, and do business with international wholesale distribution. Due to that fact, I was thinking that SK (storekeeper) would be a good rate for me. The recruiters seem puzzled that I would want to give up AECF for SK given my high asvab score and bonus that I will get with AECF. They figure that AECF is a better job in the Navy and a better choice for me. Can anyone give me any insight as to how much international wholesale distribution experience I could actually… [cont.]

A. mostly nothing. you wouldn't get into the high stakes until you made Chief ten years down the road. As a first termer you would be ordering parts for the squadron and staplers for the DIVO. AECF nets you, besides the excellent training, an active clearance which will follow you into the private contracting world afterwards. That alone can be worth it's weight in gold.

A. With all those qualifications why look for employment?. Such experience is sought by many small businesses, and those wanting to start up, therefore your best option is to go self employed. Spend a little money advertising in a few trade papers, or magazines. Have some business cards printed and spread them around, then you will be earning real money. Self assessment tax payers are another group that would use your expertise. Go to it, and join the rich, and on to the mega-rich.

A. If you're in the US, check with your state liquor board/alcoholic beverage control/whatever they're called where you want to start the business. The definition of wholesaler and distributor and retail vary from juristiction to jurisdiction; the fees and requirements are different from state to state.

What are the laws in Texas about home based food distribution for profit?
Q. I want to start selling loose teas i buy wholesale but repackaged with my labels and bags.
Asked by Tatum Q - Thu Apr 2 16:33:58 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. First of all, obviously you need the proper licenses to distribute your product. When you get your licenses, you have to go through some course work and usually an assessment at the end about all the laws and regulation that you learned to earn your license/permit. There you will learn what you need and can ask any questions in regards of the law. I just know that if you're packaging your own product, that your labels have to include name, number, I believe address, of where they can contact you if needed. Not sure if they require you to label the contents and the weight of it as well. How can i become a blu-ray retailer?
Q. I have found a few distribution companies that sell blu-ray movies and products but most have been 3rd party companies and do not have decent enough prices. If someone knows of a better distribution company that sells blu-ray at wholesale prices, i would greatly appreciate the info. I am starting up my own movie store website.
Asked by bluenautica - Fri Feb 8 15:36:47 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The movie business is a big competitive market on the net, its hard to compete trying to sell any type of movie whether it be DVD's, HD. or Blue-Ray especially with the already established companies. My advice would be check out the competition on eBay first and see how low there prices are, it'll be very hard to compete since these guys are making hardly any profit on each sell. I wish you the best of luck. As for the sources try a wholesale list from the site listed below it may help you, otherwise go directly to the source of the companies who make the movies and find out who you can purchase them from in bulk.

Q. My company recently purchased distribution rights to a series of "Green" cleaning products. A. working with a distributor would be the easy way to go, but you'll have lower margins to deal with. why not test the market by working with some paintball field operators to test your products and sell directly to them along with other direct sales outlets such as ebay where expenses are low... you should have some marketing material ready to promote your business. i used to work as a sales consultant so if you need additional advice, email me to my yahoo address.

Store supplies? Wholesale Items? Where?
Q. There is such a glut of useless information and rip offs on the net, I have a small Bricks and Mortar store, and would like to start carrying some electronics accessories of decent quality and possibly even some of the electronics themselves. We have a website that we sell items through however our stock is hard to come by. Can anyone suggest some good leads to purchase items wholesale in bulk for discounted rates? I don't know how all the other stores do it, or who their distribution is, but the online distributors seem to be even higher priced than the local big box retail stores of amazon. Very odd, but they actually have people buying from them. Please help if you can...thanks.
